Equipment first. Everyday supplies next.

Start with the equipment that matters.

Check power banks, radios, lighting and first aid first. Tick what you already have, explore equipment gaps, then check familiar food and household supplies further down.

Compare five researched product options under each equipment section, with strengths, trade-offs and buying checks. Products have not been hands-on tested. Amazon links open specific product listings and are paid affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Check the exact variant, price, seller and delivery before buying.

Keep the shopping simple

One plan. Fewer shopping stops.

Use your usual grocery shop for food and water, then fill equipment gaps. Compare delivery charges before placing separate orders.

Your usual supermarket

Water, food you normally eat, hygiene supplies and pet food. Add a little each week.

Use the missing-items checklist alongside your regular shop.

Practical preparation, at your pace

A useful plan, even if you buy nothing.

Where does this checklist come from?

Adapted from the UK Be Ready checklist supplied for this project. The checklist recommends preparing for three days and building supplies gradually. Read the official guidance. This is an independent project, with no government endorsement.

Can I buy everything in one checkout?

Purchases happen on retailers’ own websites. This planner helps organise what you need; it doesn’t take payments, reserve stock or combine retailer baskets. Check product specifications, availability and delivery costs with the retailer before buying.

How does the site make money?

Amazon links are paid affiliate links and may earn us commission on qualifying purchases. Other retailer links are currently unpaid. Read our affiliate disclosure for details.

What about medicines and infant feeding?

Keep essential medical supplies and a written medication list as part of your plan. Use your usual pharmacy or clinical team for medicine questions. The supplied checklist notes that ready-to-feed formula can be useful where water cannot be boiled safely. Follow official infant-feeding guidance and your child’s existing needs; no formula products are promoted here.

When should I review my supplies?

Check every six months, swap out items nearing expiry and update your plan when your household changes. Put a reminder in your calendar.
